The Office of Ethnic Communities facilitates the appointment of people from ethnic communities to State sector boards and committees.

Becoming a board member requires a certain level of experience and skills. The Ministry for Women has developed a comprehensive non-gender specific tool called ‘My board strengths’ to help assess your readiness for governance roles.

The tool is a confidential on-line self-assessment any one can do it. The survey asks you about your current skills and experiences in a number of areas. At the end of the self-assessment, you will have an individualised report on the types of governance roles you are suitable for, based on your current experience. It will also analyse your governance strengths and provide suggestions on how to develop these further.

Visit www.women.govt.nz to give this tool a go and see if you are ready for the challenge.

If you have any questions, please contact the Office of Ethnic Communities nominations service team. Remember to follow us on LinkedIn for upcoming opportunities.
