The Society is a non-profit organization fully supported by the voluntary services of its members. The members of New Zealand Nepal Society (NZNS) live in different parts of New Zealand, mainly Auckland. NZNS is a multi-cultural and multi-ethnic organisation represented by people of various ethnicities in NZ and Nepal, namely Sherpa, Gurung, Kiwi, Brahman, Chhetri, Newa, Rai, amongst others. As a member of various ethnic organisations of New Zealand, NZNS plays an active role to promote ethnic harmony within NZ.
The objectives of NZNS are
• To preserve Nepali social and cultural heritage
• To support and encourage co-operation amongst individuals of Nepali descent in matters of common concern within New Zealand
• To promote harmony and understanding amongst its members and other ethnic groups in New Zealand
• To promote educational, environmental and social services through the promotion of various activities
