The Office of Ethnic Communities (OEC) hosted a hui for the Latin American community in Tāmaki Makaurau to promote the Ethnic Communities Development Fund.

The purpose of the hui, which took place on 20 May, was to provide an opportunity for Latin American community representatives to learn more about the fund’s priorities and its application process.

Attendees heard from Diversity and Engagement Advisor Yasir Demirbas, who also spoke about some of the mahi currently being undertaken by the OEC.

Yasir was joined by Leba Davis, a Community Advisor from the Department of Internal Affairs who presented the specifics of the fund and encouraged the attendees to apply for projects which benefit Aotearoa New Zealand's ethnic communities.

The hui was attended by representatives from more than seven community organisations and allowed the OEC to further strengthen its connections with the Latin American community.
