Wellington Mutamizh Sangam (WMS) is a community organisation in Wellington, New Zealand, formed to preserve and promote Tamil language, arts and culture.

WMS was founded in 2009 by Tamilians in New Zealand who wanted a space for fellowship and to keep alive the traditions of Tamil culture.

Its core focus is on the three pillars of Tamil heritage: language (Iyal), music (Isai), and drama (Nadagam) — through which it promotes literature, music, dance, theatre, and other cultural activities.

The organisation also supports community building by welcoming new migrants, providing a platform for connections, and encouraging inclusivity and cultural understanding among people from different backgrounds.

WMS runs programmes including language classes (Tamil school), cultural events, community gatherings, and recreational activities — giving Tamil-Kiwis and others a chance to learn and experience Tamil culture in New Zealand.

In short( WMS helps keep Tamil identity alive in New Zealand, giving people the chance to celebrate, learn, and share their heritage, while also building community and connection among Tamils and non-Tamils alike.)
