The Mid Canterbury Newcomers Network supports new residents as they settle into the Mid Canterbury district by helping them build meaningful connections and feel part of the local community. We create welcoming spaces where people from all backgrounds can meet, share experiences, and participate in activities that strengthen belonging and wellbeing.

We run a wide range of regular events, including settling-in meetings, cooking classes, chat groups, and interest-based gatherings. Community participation is encouraged, and anyone is welcome to start a new group or discussion topic based on shared interests or needs.

Our network also includes Kōwhai Mums, a supportive group for mothers and young families. Kōwhai Mums provides a friendly environment for parents to connect, access information, and build friendships as they navigate life in a new community.

To keep newcomers informed and connected, we maintain a community database and distribute monthly newsletters featuring upcoming events, opportunities, and helpful updates from across the district.

The Mid Canterbury Newcomers Network is committed to fostering inclusion, celebrating diversity, and helping newcomers make Mid Canterbury their home
