Chinese Pride New Zealand

Chinese Pride New Zealand was founded to connect and unite Chinese queer groups living in Aotearoa New Zealand and their supporters to promote self-affirmation, dignity, and equity. We seek to build a vibrant rainbow community where we can celebrate who we are.

The organisation is fully run by volunteers who are themselves part of the community. We are working towards a future in which Chinese queer people in Aotearoa are free and proud to be who they are, and able to thrive. We hope to contribute to more equitable social systems and to encourage a cultural shift within Chinese communities towards greater openness, empathy, and understanding of diverse gender and sexual identities.

We foster connection through events, programmes, and community initiatives that create safe, welcoming, and creative spaces for queer people who identify as Chinese to meet, share, and build relationships. We also help connect community members with support and resources, and advocate for Chinese queer visibility and wellbeing where we can. Our current priorities include strengthening connections within and beyond the Chinese queer community, increasing representation, and amplifying voices that are often less heard.
