Bike Bridge is a community initiative dedicated to empowering women by teaching them how to ride bicycles, and providing access to bikes and cycling equipment.

Established in 2021, the program offers free, women-led cycling lessons aimed at fostering independence, promoting sustainable lifestyles, and enhancing community connection.

The project is based at Addington Te Kura Taumatua in Ōtautahi / Christchurch, hosts up to 30 participants each session, and caters to all levels of confidence and ability. These weekly lessons run from the beginning of October to the end of March each year.

So far, Bike Bridge has enabled 1461 attendances, rehomed 435 bikes and cycling kit, connected 41 ethnicities, and facilitated 1376 volunteer hours.
