The Office of Ethnic Communities carries out a wide range and programmes of outreach work across our teams. This includes engaging with communities, supporting the Minister of Ethnic Communities and administering the Ethnic Communities Development Fund.
This page outlines information about some of the key programmes that are underway. We will be building on this over time.
The Ethnic Communities Development Fund has $4.2 million a year for ethnic community groups to carry out projects in their communities.
The current priorities of the Fund are around supporting ethnic communities while they navigate the impacts of COVID-19.
The Office of Ethnic Communities maintains a database of suitably qualified people from within our ethnic communities, who want to be considered for appointment to State sector boards and committees.
Registering with our Nominations Service provides potential opportunities to contribute to the future decision making of New Zealand’s public sector agencies.
