The Government has an expectation that state sector boards are representative of the diversity and demographic make-up of New Zealand, including ethnicity, gender, age and geographic location.

The Office of Ethnic Communities maintains a database of suitably qualified people from within our mandated ethnic communities, who want to be considered for appointment to State sector boards and committees.

Our mandated communities include migrants, refugees, long-term settlers, and those born in New Zealand who identify their ethnicity as:

  • African
  • Asian
  • Continental European
  • Latin American
  • Middle Eastern

Registering with our Nominations Service provides potential opportunities to contribute to the future decision making of New Zealand’s public sector agencies.

The Nominations Service supports the Office of Ethnic Communities' Focus Area 3: Increasing active citizenship of people in ethnic communities.
