The Government wants state sector boards to represent the diversity and demographic make-up of New Zealand, including ethnicity, gender, age and geographic location.

The Office of Ethnic Communities maintains a database of suitably qualified people from within our ethnic communities, who want to be considered for appointment to State sector boards and committees.

Our ethnic communities include migrants, refugees, long-term settlers, and those born in New Zealand who identify their ethnicity as:

  • African
  • Asian
  • Continental European
  • Latin American
  • Middle Eastern

Registering with our Nominations Service provides potential opportunities to contribute to the future decision making of New Zealand’s public sector agencies.
